G. Munilakshi is an expert artist in kalamkari art print. She does beautiful Kalamkari on Silk Sarees that are now famous in Kalahasti from Chittoor district, the Kalamkari paintings are done on different fabrics. She does the pen kalamkari work on Cotton silk fabric with unique designs of different motifs drawn using tamarind twigs and handmade ink called Kasimi. It is entirely handwork of drawing the patterns and filling in the colors on the fabric. These sarees are screen printed using vegetable dyes for coloring. The Kalamkari art print is now popular in and around the region of Kalahasti and now appreciated globally.
